Gunn stated that he tried to reach Rep. McLeod in order to ask for his resignation. “These actions were unacceptable for anyone,” Gunn said. According to the Biloxi Sun Herald’s report, McLeod punched his wife in her face and rubbed her nose after he believed she was doing sex too slow. McLeod’s house was searched by George County Sheriff’s Department deputies. They found McLeod visibly drunk and could not stand without leaning against a guardrail. McLeod was first elected to the House in 2011. He is running unopposed in this year’s re-election campaign to South Mississippi District 107. According to a representative of MAE, the original Tuesday afternoon scheduled event for McLeod at the Mississippi Association of Educators will now be rescheduled. McLeod isn’t the only Mississippi lawmaker arrested this year. In January, Senator Terry Burton (R-Newton) was arrested for a third DUI. In September, Rep. Greg Snowden (R-Meridian) was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was involved in an accident with another vehicle and refused to take a breathalyzer. While neither lawmaker was able to resign his seat, Burton, who suffered a stroke in January and refused a breathalyzer, was removed as president pro-tem of the Senate. He will not be seeking re-election. Snowden is still the House’s speaker pro tem._x000D
