President Barack Obama endorses Mike Espy in Mississippi Senate race

Obama stated in his endorsement that Mike Espy had a great chance of winning the Senate election and keeping Mississippi moving forward. “You finally were able to change our flag. You can now change your senator. Mike Espy for Senate, Joe Biden for President. It’s your turn to be heard.” Obama encouraged Mississippians make plans to vote, to check their polling places and to bring identification. Espy stated that he was honored to receive the endorsement of the 44th President of the United States of America. Barack Obama was a man of dignity and success. Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, had already endorsed Espy. Obama failed to endorse Espy in two rounds of endorsements by more than 100 Democratic candidates across America. This was Espy’s explanation for the oversight of Obama’s staff. Espy’s 2020 campaign strategy aims to get close to 100,000 Black Mississippi voters to vote on Nov. 3, 2019.
