Brandon woman gets 20 years for fraudulent tax returns

According to the press release, Jones, who is the owner of Mobile Express Tax and Accounting Service pled guilty two counts each of tax evasion and computer fraud. Guest’s office provided information that indicated that Mississippi Department of Revenue investigators found Jones had illegally collected refunds exceeding $300,000. In addition, the accounting revealed that Jones had used the funds to pay personal expenses and not claimed the amount on her personal income tax returns. According to the press release, Jones of Brandon would prepare accurate tax returns in Mississippi and federal for clients. Jones signed fraudulent electronic returns to seek higher refunds. Jones instructed the IRS and Mississippi Department of Revenue to send Jones the excess amount to her bank account, which she used to pay her expenses.
