Burchfield, who has been in education for 42 years, has been superintendent of Clinton schools since 2008. Burchfield stated in a press release that his career was both rewarding and exciting, and allowed him the honor and privilege to serve in three Mississippi school district. “Unquestionably, the most satisfying are the 26-years spent serving the Clinton Public Schools District boys and girls as an assistant principal principal and principal.” Clinton was one of 14 schools districts that received an ‘A’ rating by the state education department for its 2015-2016 accountability ratings. Burchfield led the growth of enrollment, passed a bond issue to fund new buildings, and made the district a 1:1 technology district. This meant that every student could have an internet-connected device in 2013. It has been recognized for its wellness and health initiatives. Rachel Ray, a celebrity chef, was invited to the district’s launch of Obama’s “Let’s Move!” anniversary tour.
