Yesterday, I was able to witness two amazing sights: Mississippi Today hosted a Public Newsroom last night at King’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church. The event was based on Aallyah Wright’s three-part series Teacher Shortage, which Mississippi Today’s talented Delta reporters Kelsey Davis and Kelsey Davis created. If you haven’t seen it, click on this link. Aallyah, Kelsey and the other hosts of the evening moved the discussion along. Each person was able to share their education experiences. They also shared their thoughts on the series and suggested ways education in the Delta could be improved. The crowd split into smaller groups to brainstorm more ways the system could be improved.
