Eleven Mississippi counties eligible for disaster relief, FEMA announces

Tuesday’s notice from the Federal Emergency Management Agency stated that eleven counties now have the right to receive disaster relief for damage caused by severe weather conditions in southern Mississippi. These counties are Clarke, Covington and Forrest, Greene. Jasper, Jones. Marion, Newton. Perry. These counties can be eligible for reimbursements for the costs of repairing or replacing facilities under the Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation grant programs. On February 14, President Donald Trump signed a Disaster Declaration to declare these areas as being adversely affected by the December 27-28, 2018 storms. Through an amendment to the disaster statement, Noxubee County is now eligible for Public Assistance. Gov. Phil Bryant requested additional relief to the Mississippi Delta’s backwater flooding. More than 500,000 acres were under water at the time Bryant requested it. Click here to see the complete statement from FEMA.
