Gov Bryant appoints new director to lead Mississippi Department of Employment Security

Gov. Phil Bryant stated in a press release. “Her 27-years of experience in MDES over workforce programs, finances and administration makes her highly qualified and demonstrates her dedication to helping Mississippians find work.” She will continue her outstanding work in the Executive Director role. MDES assists Mississippians to find employment through programs that aid in job searches, improve workforce skills, and administer unemployment benefits. The release states that Turner has been serving as the deputy since 2013. “I am extremely grateful for Governor Bryant’s trust in me with this role. Turner stated that it was an honor and privilege to be able to lead MDES where I spent the majority of my career in state government. I look forward to working with our workforce partners as well as the dedicated team at MDES to continue fulfilling the agency’s mission to “Help Mississippians Get Jobs”. “I will work hard every day in this new position to earn the faith Governor Bryant placed in me, and to serve our great state.” Turner’s nomination is now subject to Senate confirmation.
