Mississippi follows the majority of states by requiring that students receive at least 180 instructional days per school year. However, Mississippi, 16 other states, and the District of Columbia differ from the majority-rule norm in that it does not require at least 180 days of instruction per school year. This is according to a report by the Education Commission of the States.
