How much money have candidates raised in race to replace Rep Gregg Harper

U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper (a Republican who served in the seat from 2009 to 2009) announced in January that it would not be his intention to seek reelection. This sparked a flood of applications for the seat. Six Republicans and two Democrats were among the eight candidates who qualified for the seat. They have been campaigning ever since. The eight candidates will compete in their respective party primaries, which will be held June 5. The two party nominees will then face off in a general election on Nov. 6. The Federal Election Commission received the first quarter financial reports from all but two candidates. This covers contributions and expenditures between January 1 and March 31. Morgan Dunn (a Republican from Magee who founded a health-care consulting company): Raised $30,000. Plus a $73,000 personal loans, spent $626 and has $103,000 cash. Michael Evans, a Democrat and Philadelphia poultry farmer has not submitted a statement of candidacy nor financial data to the Federal Election Commission’s online databases. Michael Guest, a Republican from Madison, is the district attorney for Madison, Rankin, and has $216,213 cash in his bank account. Whit Hughes, a Republican from Madison, was the past president of Baptist Health Systems’ foundation. He raised $304,354, spent $97.903, and has $206,450 cash. Perry Parker, a Republican from Seminary, was a Wall Street stock trader and businessman. He raised $102,032 (plus $240,000 for a personal loan), spent $69.498, and has $272.533 cash. * Katherine Tate, a Republican hailing from Jackson and a former teacher in public schools, has no financial records on the Federal Election Commission’s website.
