Flowers was convicted of the 1996 murders of four people in his latest trial and sentenced to execution. Flowers’ lawyers appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. They ruled that Doug Evans, the Montgomery County District Attorney, had unconstitutionally prevented Black jurors from being on the jury. In Flowers’ six trials, 61 out of 72 jurors were White.
