Inside a Mississippi hospital hard-hit by nursing shortage

During the pandemic, many health care workers, including nurses, fled the state to find better-paying jobs in temp companies or hospitals elsewhere in Mississippi. Singing River Health System currently has more than 200 nursing positions at its three Gulf Coast hospitals, 50 of them at Ocean Springs Hospital. The Daily’s February 18th episode, The New York Times, highlighted the challenges facing the hospital system. Mississippi Today took a look inside Ocean Springs Hospital’s walls to capture a day in their lives.
