Justice’s sister to plead guilty to federal charges

Palasini (54), was indicted July 14, 2015. She faces years in prison following her expected plea. She is also known as Gina and is the sister to Dawn H. Beam, a new Mississippi Supreme Court Justice. On two convictions for false pretenses in Wayne and Pike, she is currently serving a 10-year sentence in state prison. She is charged with 12 counts of fraud, swindles and six counts wire/radio/TV fraud, as well as one count of money laundering fraud in DeSoto and Sunflower counties. In August 2015, she pleaded not guilty to all the charges. She faces up to 20 years imprisonment and $250,000 in fines for each. Her 15-page indictment claims that from February 2009 to July 2012, Palasini devised and executed a scheme to defraud veterans, senior citizens and their families of nearly $1.5 million by creating fake businesses she promoted as helping them to invest their savings and get benefits from Medicaid and/or the U.S. Veterans Administration.
