Mississippi Power sees progress at Kemper County plant

The second of two plant’s gasifiers is now producing electricity from lignite. The utility revealed last month that the first of its two gasifiers at the plant had produced electricity using a mixture of natural gas and synthesis gas. The plant must first generate electricity from syngas from nearby lignite co before it can go into commercial operation. Operators must ensure that the plant runs smoothly. Mississippi Power stated that the plant will be in service by December 31. Several of the previous targets for the plant’s induction into service were missed._x000D
