Nonprofit news makes an impact And so can you

Marshall Ramsey, Editor at-Large. The pandemic, like many other fields, has disrupted media businesses, causing job losses across the country in newsrooms. This further reduces journalism’s role as a watchdog. It is our mission as a non-profit newsroom to fill in the gaps in this coverage. We know that Mississippians need reliable news sources now more than ever, especially when democracy and the well-being of Mississippi communities is at stake. Our reporters travelled across 24 counties last week to report on Election Day. They covered every county from Bolivar to Lee, Harrison and everything in between. This is Mississippi’s work. This public service is free, but it can be expensive to produce. Staff time, mileage, records requests, and technology are all real costs. We are committed to reporting on issues that matter to Mississippians not only during the week surrounding Election Day but for as long as possible. Your contribution is crucial to making sure that this happens. You can donate to Mississippi Today anytime between now and the end. NewsMatch will match 12x your monthly donation or double your one-time gift up to $5,000. Do you want to do your part in supporting public service journalism that never ceases reporting to you?_x000D
