We were undefeated Georgia, which was ranked No. 12 playing at Ole Miss, which was twice defeated and ranked No. 23. After opening at 2, Ole Miss was a 7-point favorite. Evidently, someone has looked at the schedules. Alabama and Florida State are the Ole Miss losses. Georgia’s two previous victories were by 2 over Nicholls state and 1 over Missouri. Georgia will send an 18-year old quarterback to the game, Ole Miss will send a 22 year-old. Ole Miss is home. Ole Miss 31, Georgia 27. After a disappointing comeback at LSU, Mississippi State is now ranked 1-2. They will play 1-2 UMass at Foxboro. On the road, the Bulldogs are 22 points favorites. Since the Bulldogs have a quarterback problem, I don’t know if I would make State a 22 point favorite over any other team, not even the Minutemen. While I want State to win, I wouldn’t give up the points. Massachusetts 14, State 27 Southern Miss opens conference play in UTEP. It’s a long trip and a difficult place to play. The 11.5-point favourite is the 2-1 Golden Eagles over the 1-2 Miners who are last in the country in turnover differential. This is a game USM should win, and perhaps win easily, if they don’t allow UTEP to create a lot in this one. UTEP has only created one turnover throughout the season. USM 34, UTEP 20, Texas A & M is a 6-point favorite over Arkansas in a battle between unbeaten SEC Western Division teams. This week’s upset: Arkansas 28, Texas A & M 26,. Auburn is the 3-point favorite for LSU. This seems to be about right. Auburn 17, LSU 20 At home, Tennessee is a 5-point favorite over the Florida Gators. Both teams have not lost, but neither team has been particularly impressive. This is a weak nod to Florida 26, Tennessee 27. Vanderbilt is a 7-point underdog in Western Kentucky. Jeff Brohm is doing an amazing coaching job. WKU lost to Alabama in its only loss. Western is 27-20, which I love. Wait! Are you sure? Why is Kentucky favored over South Carolina Why? South Carolina 24-20. Other: Grambling 31, Alcorn 20, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 27, Jackson State 24. Prairie View 27, MVSU 21. Rick Cleveland is Mississippi Today’s sports columnist.
