Cole was also the 1985 president of the Young Democrats at Mississippi State University. The “Rickey L. Cole Scholarship” was named by the Young Democrats of Mississippi in December 2005 for their Legislative Internship. Cole and Ayana Cole have two children. They live on the family farm in Ovett in southeastern Jones County.
