Robert Amos was an administrator in the insurance sector and a former teacher at the high school and college levels. He has also taught classes about the insurance industry. He currently owns a small business. Amos was unsuccessful in his 2015 bid for Central District Transportation Commissioner. Amos ran previously for the office of Hinds County Supervisor and Jackson mayor. All three elections he ran for were lost. Amos, a Jackson native, attended and received degrees at Alcorn State University (Jackson State University), Jackson State University (Jackson State University) and Belhaven University. Amos earned master’s degrees and undergraduate degrees in education, as well as in health care administration and public administration.
