Starkville man who tried to join ISIS sentenced to 96 months in prison

Chief U.S. district Judge Sharion Aycock sentenced Jaelyn Young, a Vicksburg fiancee, to 144 month imprisonment on the same charge. The FBI found out that the couple planned to fly to Turkey to join the terrorist group in Syria. In August 2015, they were both arrested and charged with conspiring to support or provide resources to a foreign terrorist group. Both pleaded guilty to the charges in March 2016. Young, 20 and Dakhlalla 23, met at Mississippi State University. Young was a student in a chemistry laboratory, and he was ready to go to graduate school. FBI electronic surveillance revealed their plans. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons is going to decide how they will spend their sentences. Each person will be released after they have completed their sentence. They will remain on supervised release for five year.
