Sandra Sistrunk, Ward 2 Alderman, told Starkville Daily News on Friday that she requested reconsideration of the request for a special event from the LGBT group for a Pride Parade in March 24. Sistrunk stated that she requested that the matter be put back on the agenda as they now have a picture of what a lawsuit looks like and that there is additional information that must be considered during the vote. Starkville Pride filed a civil suit against Starkville in federal court on February 26. This was after the Board of Aldermen had voted 4-3 to deny the group’s request for a parade permit. According to Tuesday’s agenda the board will meet in executive session for the litigation.
