Starkville refuses to allow LGBT pride parade

The city council denied the request of the group that supports lesbian, gay and bisexual people to hold the 2018 Pride Parade. The meeting ended with the three council members who voted no to the parade, Ben Carver and David Little, leaving from the back entrance of the municipal courtroom. Henry Vaughn also voted against the parade, but he declined to comment. Mayor Lynn Spruill stated that she spoke to Oxford Mayor Robyn Tanehill about the success of the LGBT Pride Parade.
