Cohen, a former Bulldog baseball star who was a part of the College World Series for State, and later coached State to its final series in a College World Series, is the 17th school’s athletic director. The report was not confirmed or denied by a university spokesperson. Sid Salter (MSU Chief Communications Officer) stated that the university would not comment on the report. Cohen, 50, will replace Scott Stricklin (his good friend) who resigned from MSU to accept the same position at University of Florida. Stricklin is well-known for his strong support of Cohen in the job. Cohen was promoted to the position of associate athletic director in July. Stricklin stated that Cohen sought his counsel on other matters. Cohen will not be continuing to coach baseball. His first hire as athletic director is a new coach for baseball.
