Tate Reeves Bio

Reeves introduced the largest tax cut in Mississippi history, the “Taxpayer Pay Raise Act,” which was passed in 2016. It lowered the personal income taxes, allowed self-employed Mississippians increase deductions, and eliminated the corporate franchise. Reeves is the only candidate for governor who opposes Medicaid expansion. He graduated from Florence High School, where he studied economics in 1992. Reeves was a Millsaps Majors point guard and a Kappa Alpha Order member. Reeves left Millsaps to pursue a career as an assistant vice president in Jackson and was a senior investment analyst at AmSouth. Reeves was appointed an investment officer at Trustmark National Bank Jackson in 2000. Reeves and Elee have three children, Sarah Tyler, Elizabeth Magee, and Madeline Tate.
