Rick Murphy, Tupelo High School Band Director, stated that “we want every child be able to participate in this historic event.” Band boosters believe the band will need to raise $75,000 to $100,000 to cover the cost of the trip. According to the newspaper, the 150-member band would require four charter buses and a large number of hotel rooms for two nights in Washington D.C.
