Two new House members sworn in

Emily Wagster Pettus, Associated Press, tweeted that Republicans Donnie Scottin of Ellisville (Republican) and John Glen Corley from Lumberton (Republican) took their oaths at the state Capitol from Philip Gunn, House Speaker. Scoggin will be representing District 80 in Jones County. Pettus reported that he will continue to serve the three remaining years of Bobby Shows in Ellisville’s term. Corley will succeed Herb Frierson, of Poplarville, in District 106 in Lamar or Pearl River counties. Following the 2017 legislative session, Frierson resigned from the House to be appointed state revenue commissioner. Corley was elected to fill the three remaining years of Frierson’s term.
