Williams, who was the Director of the Metro Jackson Community Prevention Coalition in June 2016, retired. This unit is part of the Office of Community Engagement at Jackson State. She was the principal investigator on several state and federal programs that generated over $10 million in grant funding during her time at JSU. Williams is also a veteran. Before joining JSU, Williams was a commissioned officer in the U.S Army. Williams was a Company Commander at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and an acting inspector general at Red River Army Depot, Texarkana (Texas). Williams and Bennett returned to Mississippi in 1991. They have been Madison County residents ever since. Two children, Felicia R. Williams Ellis (and son Bennett J. Williams II) were born to them. One grandson, Kobe.
