Alabama was the 49th state that passed equal pay legislation in 2019, making Mississippi the only state with no pay equity laws or sex discrimination laws. With Senate Bill 2451 and House Bill 770, the Mississippi Legislature has two options to amend that. Black Women’s Roundtable and other groups have criticised both bills, citing a lack in inclusive language for women of colour and the requirement to pleading with particularity.
