Mississippi Stories Sammy Moon

This episode of Mississippi Stories features Marshall Ramsey, Mississippi Today Editor at Large, and Sammy Moon. Sammy Moon is the executive director of Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy. Sammy is responsible for providing leadership and support to philanthropic and nonprofit organizations as they work to strengthen Mississippi’s children and families. His role includes interaction with non-profits organizations, foundations and United Ways as well as businesses across the state. Sammy was previously the director of Mississippi Association of Grantmakers before he became the executive director of The Alliance. Sammy was previously a senior advisor to United Way Worldwide’s Field Engagement Division, where he worked with local United Ways that were interested in impact investing and third-grade literacy programming. Sammy was also a senior associate at The Annie E. Casey Foundation, Baltimore, Md. which is the largest private foundation dedicated to strengthening the futures of vulnerable children and their families. Sammy is a native of Amory in Mississippi. He has a Masters of Arts in Sociology from the University of Mississippi and a Masters in Social Work from Southern Mississippi. He also holds a Masters in Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Harvard University.
