Clinton’s Akers chooses Florida State

Akers said that he would spend the next four years at Florida State University. He was wearing a gray suit and a yellow tie. Akers picked up an FSU cap among six others, which included Ole Miss, LSU (Louisiana), Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia, and Alabama. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum video-streamed Aker’s selection live on Tuesday night. Akers stated that he made his decision after much soul-searching and only took two days to make it. Akers stated, “It was the most ideal situation for me and our family.” It’s not far away. It was a difficult decision, but it was worth it. He will likely enroll in January. Florida State has won 18 conference titles and three national championships. The Seminoles are proud to have produced three Heisman Trophy-winning players and three undefeated seasons. Many consider Dalvin Cook, the current FSU running back, the best running back in the 2017 NFL Draft. He rushed for 1,620 yards this season and scored 18 touchdowns. Jud Boswell, Clinton coach, said that he was 100 percent behind Cook no matter what he does. This interview took place just before Akers’ announcement. “He’s done so many things for Clinton High, our community, and the state of Mississippi.”
