More than 1000 bills failed to clear the first hurdle in Tuesday’s legislative session. This was the deadline for bills that must pass the committee in the chamber from which they were originated. Few of the 2,690 resolutions and bills filed in 2020 will be signed by the governor. Mississippi Today highlighted many bills, and their status in this process. The deadline for bills and constitutional amendments to be considered in the House or Senate is March 12. Otherwise they won’t move forward in the legislative process.
