Ganucheau started in Mississippi Today’s pre-launch in 2016, as a politics reporter. He has since been promoted to senior staff members and most recently, as interim editor-in chief. Mary Margaret White, Executive Director and CEO of Mississippi Today said that Adam hit the ground running and created an editorial vision for the newsroom that amplifies the mission and places readers at the center of all we do. He is a veteran reporter who knows our strengths and areas for improvement. His appointment as our permanent leader of our newsroom is a great honor for our team. Ganucheau’s editorial vision will see the newsroom aligned on three pillars to reach all readers, strengthen our political coverage and expand our community-based coverage on education, racial, and gender equality, as well as criminal justice. Ganucheau will be working with Harvey Parson, Managing Editor, and Kayleigh Skinner, Deputy Managing editor to improve the service to Mississippi’s information needs. Ganucheau stated in a memo to the entire company that “we must fill gaps that nobody else can” and that newsroom partnerships are essential for keeping Mississippi journalism alive. We will make the most of Mississippi’s most powerful people with unremitting energy, and give Mississippians the context, background and depth they need to understand their government. We will do it thoughtfully and well.” Ganucheau, a journalist who covered the 2018 and 2019 state elections, holds the host of the only weekly Mississippi political podcast.
