Hard to believe now that Ole Miss Rebels scored 43 points against this Bama defense

If you ask me, none these victories are the greatest accomplishment of this Mississippi football season. We need to go back to September 17th in Oxford. Here’s the story: Ole Miss beat Alabama by 43 points. The Rebels did not win (48-43), however, they scored 43 points against the best college defenses this country has ever seen. The Rebels were so close to beating the best team in America. Arkansas lost 19 points to the Crimson Tide by scoring 30 points. No other team has scored more than 14. Alabama allows 12.2 points per match. Ole Miss scored 43 points against Bama. The Tide averages 259 yards per match. Ole Miss gained 522. Bama gives up 191 yards passing per game. Ole Miss threw 421. Three NFL scouts spoke to me last week. They said that they’ve never seen such a diverse group of talent and speed on defense as Alabama’s. They are not only the most talented athletes. They are also the best coaches. They are so disciplined. They don’t make any mistakes. They fill every gap.” Saturday was State-Alabama TV. It often felt like Alabama had more than 14 or 15 defenders when State had the ball. It was almost like the famous comment that Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook made to national TV cameras last year in the semi-final: “They freaking everywhere!” Ole Miss won 43 points against them. Amazing.
