Mississippi Department of Education released guidelines on how K-12 schools can reopen in fall. These guidelines were developed with 10 state superintendents and include three options for school reopening: hybrid, traditional, or virtual. Traditional reopening would allow students to be present at school, provided that districts follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. A hybrid reopening would include both in-person instruction as well as distance learning. Students would be able to return to school completely via virtual reopening. The state does not dictate which option districts choose. The July 31 deadline is when school districts must choose an option.
