According to the paper, a training session will take place Jan. 11-12 at the Mississippi Supreme Court Training Room in the Gartin Ju Building, 450 High St. in Jackson. The Star reported that the seminar will give an overview of court proceedings and costs $100. Participants must be proficient in English and another language. Participants will be taught about the court language interpreter’s role, ethics, modes of interpretation, and credentialing requirements. Participants can apply for certification to work in Mississippi court proceedings. This will be done by passing a written exam at the Gartin location, 9:15 to 11:15 am. The Star reported that there is a need for Vietnamese speakers.
