The commission narrowed down the options to two after flying five of the most popular designs over Capitol Tuesday. We wanted to compare your results in our reader poll with the commission’s selections. Out of 2,647 respondents to our poll, 39% chose Flag 2, which was not among the two designs chosen by the commission. Flag 4, which features a magnolia bloom on a blue background and red-and-gold stripes, received 25% votes from our readers. It was also one of the two chosen by the commission. Flag 1, which was also one of two chosen, received 16.8% votes from our readers. This design draws inspiration from 1798’s state territorial seal. It features a red-white and blue striped shield. Flag 3, which received 10.6% of the votes of our readers, and Flag 5, which received 8.7% of their votes did not make it to the final round. Eric J. Shelton/Mississippi Today Eric J.
