Most people in this college football country have Auburn. In Las Vegas, Mississippi State opened as a 1-point favorite. Auburn has been favored by bettors to the point that they are now a three-point favorite. This concept is not understood by many people. Oddsmakers continue to try to move the line to attract more Mississippi State bets. With so much money flowing in to Auburn, they are able to keep moving the betting line. This is significant because a lot of people think Auburn is superior to mine. These two teams are evenly matched. State is my favorite team for two reasons. The homefield advantage and the open date before this game. State 26, Auburn 24. State hosts Auburn while Southern Miss takes on UTSA (that is Texas-San Antonio) at the Alamodome. The USM was the 14.5-point favourite in this one. Now, it is 16.5. UTSA won one, lost three and had Arizona State on the ropes until the end. It’s hard to understand why USM is the favorite. Frank Wilson, the UTSA’s head coach, was a former assistant at USM and Pete Golding, the defensive coordinator, has worked with USM’s safeties last year. UTSA actively recruits from Mississippi and Louisiana. If USM can avoid turnovers, it should win this match, but I would steer clear of that spread. Southern Miss 38, UTSA 30, Other: Alabama 31, Arkansas 14 : Bama is clearly the class of SEC. Texas A&M 27, Tennessee 17 : The SEC West clearly is better than the SEC East. Vandy 21, Kentucky 20. My coin landed tails, Vandy. South Carolina 24, Georgia 23. I guess my feelings about Georgia are still affected by the Ole Miss beating and the firing of Mark Richt. Oklahoma 31, Texas 14 : The Sooners get more love from gamblers that Auburn. Line has moved up from 7 to 13. It is impossible to get it higher than that by oddsmakers. Miami 30, Florida State 27, Mark Richt seems to have survived Georgia’s firing quite well.
