Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation awards announced

According to a Farm Bureau press release, the Rogers own a large cattle operation with about 30,000 head per year. The release stated that Shannon Rogers, who is also the farm’s bookkeeper, also manages Stock Pro Animal & Health, a large distributor of health supplies. The Rogers’ will receive a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup trucks, 250 hours of Kubota tractor use, 100 hours of John Deere 150hp tractor use, $1,800 towards the purchase of technological upgrades to their farm through the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation. Other awards announced Monday by Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation include a Distinguished Service Award to Preston Sullivan from Okalona. Sullivan has been farming on a farm his family has owned since 1861 for almost half a century. Sullivan is also a Chickasaw County representative and has been the chairman of the Agriculture Committee. * Sammy Blossom, Flora’s Distinguished Service Award. After 16 years of leading the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, Blossom retired. Blossom was raised on a small Scott County dairy, beef and sheep farm where he developed an interest in livestock his entire life. Jan Hill of Woodland was awarded the Excellence in Leadership Award. Hill is now farming the same land his great-grandfather farmed many decades ago.
